Emergency management is a coordinated effort, involving local, state, and federal government agencies as well as volunteer organizations and businesses. Within an integrated emergency management framework, these entities assist citizens and their communities to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and eliminate or reduce the effects of natural, man-made, civil, and technological emergencies and disasters.

In 1992, Ross Bergen joined Scott County Emergency Management Agency as the Operations Officer.  He became Manager in 1996 and still holds that position today.  Prior to Scott County he worked for the Iowa Emergency Management Division as a Public Assistance Officer from 1990-1992.  Ross served as an Active Duty Officer in the US Army from 1977-1987 and in Iowa Army National Guard from 1987-1999.  He resides in Davenport, married, and the father of 4 children and 2 grandchildren.

Ross plans to give an overview of radiological emergency worker and evacuee reception center activities and responsibilities.  He will also be giving information on how you can volunteer, as members of the community, at the reception center in Eldridge.
