S.K. Nanda, Past President of the Bettendorf Rotary Club, Past District Governor Nominee, and member of the District 6000 Annual Giving Committee, will speak to us on Monday about The Rotary Foundation.  S.K. played an important role in pairing our club with Bettendorf to complete a matching grant to supply temporary homeless shelters in St. Petersburg, Russia.

This past January, Davenport Rotarians Brock Earnhardt and Bill Burress again traveled to Central America to promote goodwill and strengthen relationships with other Rotarians and friends.  Brock and Bill participated in the 16th Uniendo-America project fair held in Belize City, Belize.  This annual event is a forum to allow Rotarians from North America to network with Central Americans who seek partners for humanitarian projects in their countries.  Prior to the Belize project fair, the pair along with Jim Peterson of the Iowa City AM Rotary club, visited the site of a water distribution project for the impoverished village of Tojchiquel in the municipality of Santa Barbara near Huehuetenango, Guatemala.  This project was financially supported by The Rotary Foundation, District 6000, and the Rotary Club of Davenport in partnership with the Huehuetenango Rotary Club and the community which it benefits.  Brock and Bill will showcase this incredible project and thank the club for its support to provide drinking water to 455 Mayans who previously did not have a dependable water supply.

Bill Burress currently serves as President of the Rotary Club of Davenport, and serves as a member of the District 6000 World Community Service Matching Grant subcommittee.

Brock Earnhardt currently serves Rotary as chairman of the D-6000 WCS Matching Grant subcommittee, member of the D-6000 Simplified Grant committee, and board member of FAMSCO, the districts 501C-3 organization.  Brock has previously served as District Assistant Governor and as President of Davenport Rotary from 2000-2001.
