On-site Lunch and Tour of L&D 15 and Visitor's Center

__________________________

Monday 06/20/22 Noon Meeting will be an
On-site Lunch and Tour of the Visitor's Center and L&D 15 at the Rock Island Arsenal
thus, WE WILL NOT BE AT THE Y on Mon. 6/20/22, nor will there be a Zoom option.

We look forward to hearing from:

- Mike McKean, Park Ranger with the US Army Corps of Engineers Rock Island District, and Thomas D. Heinhold, Acting Director, Inland Navigation Design Center

At Noon, the lunch and a brief meeting will be in the MacKenzie-Wheeler conference room (which is right across the street from the Mississippi River Visitor Center - see attached 'ARSENAL VISITIOR GUIDE MAP')

After lunch, we'll go across the street to the Mississippi River Visitor Center to watch a short movie (that gives a good overview of the entire Mississippi River Project before we get into the details of Locks & Dam 15), and look at some displays before heading outside for the Locks and Dam tour at 1:00pm

--- If you plan to stay for the Locks and Dam tour, everyone is required to wear closed toed shoes for safety reasons ~ no sandals, high heels, flip flops, etc….

..........................................................
Main things to know:
-Entry to RI Arsenal is only via their Moline Gate
-Directions = off of I-74, take River Dr. exit, Keep right at the fork and merge onto River Dr, Turn right onto the ramp to Rock Island Arsenal
-Security personnel at the Moline Gate will have all Davenport Rotary Meeting attendee names 'pre-approved', so access & entry should be swift
-Have your ID ready, just in case they ask for it
-Noon Lunch & Meeting will be held in the
‘MacKenzie-Wheeler’ Conference Room, which is inside the ‘Clock Tower Annex’ Building (note: is located just across the street from the Mississippi River Visitor Center)
-- Once you’re through the Moline Gate, it's a straight shot with no turns across the entire Island to the Clock Tower Bldg's parking lot
--- It's the very last possible thing before running into the Davenport gate (which is closed)
--- Guards at the Moline Gate can direct you, if needed
