Importance of Skilled Trades
Matt Lienen has been a member of Local 25 for 31 years. After graduating from the University
of Iowa in May 1994 with a Communications degree, Matt started his Local 25 career as a 1 st
year Apprentice in July of that same year. After graduating to Journeyman status in 1999, he
then worked as a project supervisor installing piping systems and equipment on large
commercial and industrial construction projects in the greater Quad City area. In 2004, he
began his teaching career at Local 25 and earned a UA Certified Instructor certificate. Matt was
appointed Local 25 Training Coordinator in 2009, a position which he held for 9 years. Elected
to the office of Business Manager/Financial Secretary-Treasurer in 2018, Matt Lienen has
proudly and relentlessly demonstrated his dedication to our local during the last 16 years. Matt
is currently a candidate for Davenport City Council in the 8 th Ward.
