Generally, the term fire prevention brings to mind actions taken to be safe at home such as installing smoke detectors, practicing home exit drills, or maintaining clear storage around water heaters. These are great fire safety practices for individuals at home. But, everyone must also have confidence that when at work, shopping, or eating out, the buildings they are in will protect them from fire. Comprehensive community fire prevention has many facets including plans review, fire systems test observation, commercial inspections, and extinguisher training, as well as education for all ages. Davenport Fire Chief Lynn Washburn, Fire Marshal Mike Hayman, and Public Education Officer Mark Kakert will share the mission and resources of the Department to ensure comprehensive fire prevention for our community.
