Don Goering grew up in Davenport, graduating from Central High School.  He attended Iowa State University graduating with three degrees.  He is a retired US Army Colonel and retired from the Iowa State University Extension Service after 39 years. 

Don has been a Rotarian since 1959 where he has served as Club President in Marengo and Ames (Noon), District 6000 Governor during the 1998-99 Rotary year, and "Member at Large" of the PolioPlus Partners Task Force.  He continues to serve District 6000 as the Rotary Foundation Chair.

Don has received several awards including The Rotary Foundation Meritorious Service Award and the Rotary Foundation Regional Polio Service Award.  He is a member of the District 6000 Paul Harris Society, Rotary Foundation Level One Bequest Society Member and Level One Major Donor. 

Don is married to Doris, his wife of 50+ years and they have two married children and three grandchildren.
