Davenport Rotarian, Brock Earnhardt, was awarded the “Service Above Self Award” at the Rotary 6000 District Conference.  It is Rotary’s highest honor for individual Rotarians, recognizing up to 150 annually who have demonstrated exemplary humanitarian service, with an emphasis on personal volunteer efforts and active involvement in helping others through Rotary.

Brock Earnhardt served as Davenport Club President in 2000-01.  He was also Assistant Governor from 2002-04.  Brock currently serves as the D-6000 World Community Service / Matching Grants committee chairman.  He also serves on the district's Simplified Grants committee in addition to being a board member of the D-6000 FAMSCO Central America project.  Brock has traveled numerous times to Central America solely to develop relationships and humanitarian projects there.  He also has participated in four Central America project fairs.  His participation has resulted in the development of several water supply projects in western Guatemala.  Additionally, he has worked through FAMSCO to ship surplus medical equipment and supplies to several Central American countries.

Brock actively serves on the boards of directors of Family Resources, the Davenport Sister Committee, River Action, Junior Achievement of the Heartland, the Scott County Family YMCA, and the Davenport River Front task force, the Iowa Quad City Chamber of Commerce, the Bettendorf Development Corp. and River Music Experience.

Brock takes to heart the Four-Way Test in all of his community involvements.  During Brock's first trip to Guatemala in 2001, he saw firsthand the plight of those who have nothing.  His career in water distribution has fostered a strong interest to develop dependable water supply projects such as the Santa Barbara, Guatemala matching grant water project.  His WCS matching grants committee involvement has helped D-6000 become a world leader in international service activity.  He has completed training as a Red Cross Disaster Service volunteer and is ready to serve at a moment's notice.  To increase the scope of his international service, Brock plans to attend the West Africa Project Fair in Accra, Ghana this November.

On behalf of all the Davenport Rotarians...Congratulations on a well deserved honor!
