The Community Foundation of the Great River Bend is a nonprofit corporation created by and for the people of eastern Iowa and western Illinois. Since 1964, area residents have been turning to the Community Foundation to carry out their charitable goals.

Mission : To better our community by connecting people who care with causes that matter.

Funds: We are a collection of 523 charitable funds.

Affiliates: We administer 11 affiliate community foundations, which are comprised of volunteers serving their communities throughout our region.

Grants: Since inception, the Community Foundation has provided $19 million in grant support to local charitable programs and services.

Gifts: The Community Foundation received 4,359 gifts for a total of $9.7 million in 2008.

Scholarships: The Foundation's scholarship program originated in 1998 to assist high school students achieve their educational goals. More than $1.9 million has been awarded to 601 students since then.

Initiatives: Achieve Quad Cities is co-led by the Community Foundation and United Way of the Quad Cities Area and seeks to improve high school graduation rates (and reduce dropout rates) by strengthening connections youth have growing up that affect their success in school, in work, and in life.

Teens for Tomorrow allows high school students to lead and support change through philanthropy. Over the last sevens years, 210 teens have received training on leadership and learned how to make wise grantmaking decisions.

The Leading Ladies Giving Circle is the first of its kind in our area. Participants actively seek information on nonprofit organizations that focus on youth development and make grants to programs they select.
