This week's speaker will be Bob Morrison, QC Director of the National Honor Flight Network, explaining the work his organization does to honor WW II veterans. On November 1st, 96 WW II veterans and 60 "Guardians" flew to Washington, D.C. for a one day tour of that city's memorials to our service men and women.

Due to the generosity of the "Guardians" the flights were free to the 96 veterans. Each Guardian paid $500 to participate on the first of what Bob hopes will be many additional honor flights. Bob will also explain fund raising plans and how we can participate.

"We have a stack of applications from veterans hoping to be a part of the program," said Mr. Morrison in a QC Times article, "we already have enough veterans signed up for an additional 3 flights". Bob went on to add, "our biggest concern is the money to fund the next flight scheduled for April 2009." With a price tag of approximately $50,000 expected, raising money is a top priority of the organization.

Needless to say, funding by a local company or group, to add to the funds given by the "Guardians" would be very welcomed as the average cost of a single flight is between $70,000 to $100,000. The good news is that sign up activity is brisk for people interested in becoming a "Guardian". If you are interested in learning more about becoming a Guardian or offering a corporate donation, please contact Bob.
