Overview of Services Provided by the Small Business Development Center

Mr. Youngs, has a BA from Augustana College in Business and in Mathematics, and a MS from Western Illinois University.

He owned and operated his own insurance/financial services business for 8 years. The process of starting a business from ground zero and concluding with a successful exit strategy is exactly the type of information that the IA SBDC clients are seeking. In addition, he has 6 years of banking experience in the Quad Cities and 5 years as a consultant with MidAmerican Energy, which helps when advising small business owners about lender presentations and business decisions.

As the current the Director of the Small Business Development Center at Eastern Iowa Community College, he serves 4 counties in the Eastern Iowa. Mr. Youngs sees over 150 small business owners per year – ranging from 1 employee (the owner themselves) up to 250 employees. His advising includes helping business owner make strategic decisions with their business that could include: identifying profitability gaps, packaging lender financing, identifying appropriate local, state, and federal programs that can help the business, as well as prepare for exit and acquisition strategies and pricing.
