He runs a limited partnership based on the conservative investing principles of Warren Buffett. He has been a guest speaker on investing at NYU's Stern School of Business, Fordham University, Bowdoin College, and the CFA Society of New York. His research has been published in Bloomberg, Barron's, Fortune, CNNMoney, and MarketWatch. He’s been investing for 18 years, and has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Waterloo (Canada), and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Southern California (USC). |

Dr. Art Tate was hired in August 2011 to serve as Superintendent in the Davenport Community School District. He was formerly Superintendent in the Tempe, Arizona Schools through 2010-2011 school year. He has also served as a superintendent in the Haverhill and Harvard, Massachusetts schools along with S.A.U. #34 in Hillsboro, New Hampshire and New York Military Academy in Cornwall on Hudson, New York. He was the Director of Human Resources for T.F. Green Airport in Warwick, Rhode Island and began his education career as a teacher in the Broward County, Florida schools. Mr. Tate was an U.S. Army officer with 9 years in Europe, 3 tours in Vietnam and taught mathematics at West Point. He holds a B.A. from the University of Miami, M.A. from Boston University, M.S. from Texas Tech University, M.A. from the University of Rhode Island and an Ed.D. degree from Florida Atlantic University.

Emily Tinsman, a junior music education major at Drake University, is proud to represent this part of the state as Miss Eastern Iowa 2018. Through her year of service, she will travel, perform, and volunteer for a variety of organizations and charities. Emily is especially proud of her connection with Children’s Miracle Network in which she has raised thousands of dollars for. She is proud to represent future and current fine arts teachers as an advocate for a platform known as TEMPOS: Teaching and Encouraging Music Participation in Our Schools. TEMPOS is a movement she created to advocate and fundraise for arts programs in our schools. She’s all about providing musical and artistic opportunities for students and showing them the power of being involved in the arts. She is thrilled to be here and share with you a bit about her journey to Miss Iowa and her passion for arts education. |

Mary Mosiman has been serving as Iowa’s Auditor of State since May 13, 2013. Initially appointed by Governor Terry Branstad to fill the unexpired term of her predecessor, she was elected to a full term in the November 2014 general election. Mary serves the State as the “Taxpayer’s Watchdog” and her Office is responsible for the audits of state agencies, counties, cities, school districts and other governmental subdivisions. The Office is also required to provide guidelines to CPA firms performing governmental audits, and plays a major role in fraud investigations around the State. Previously, Mary served for 2 years as a Deputy in the Secretary of State’s Office and 10 years as the elected Story County Auditor. Mary graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business/Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant. She is a member of the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants (ISCPA), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers (NASACT), the Ames Morning Rotary, and the Ames Chamber of Commerce. A native of Hubbard, Iowa, Mary values her farm-family background. She and her husband Dan reside in Ames. They are the proud parents of four daughters. |

Ben Keith, Director of Key Accounts at MidAmerican Energy, will share a presentation on "Solar Energy." Ben Keith was born and raised in the Quad Cities (IL) Area. He currently resides in Davenport, IA, with his wife Kelly and their three year old son, Kaden. Their family is extremely active and enjoy being outside, going out to eat and spending time with friends. Ben has many hobbies and spends most of his free time participating in recreational sports leagues including basketball, soccer, golf, kickball and ski-ball. He is also a member of the Bettendorf, IA Rotary and the Quad Cities Young Professionals Organization. From a professional perspective, Ben’s current position is the Director of Key Accounts for MidAmerican Energy. He is responsible for a customer service organization designed to assist MidAmerican’s large industrial and commercial customers in Illinois and Iowa. Previously, he was an operations supervisor in Electric Distribution in the Quad City Area. Prior to operations, Ben started his career as a Project Manager and Engineer in High Voltage Engineering where he was responsible for the replacement of existing and development of new transmission lines across MidAmerican’s service territory. Ben graduated from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville in 2008 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and is currently licensed as a Professional Engineer in Illinois.

Robert G. Stone, from Family Resources, Inc., will be giving a presentation on, "What Family Resouces Has to Offer." Robert is a native to the Quad Cities, growing up in East Moline and graduating from the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana. In his career of Social Work, he has worked mostly in Child Welfare, licensing foster homes and in direct service as a case worker. At present, he is the Volunteer Coordinator for Survivor Services at Family Resources. In his personal life, Robert has a strong background in both vocal and instrumental music.

Ridgecrest Village is hosting a car wash on Friday, July 20, 2018, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, at Ridgecrest Village, located at 4130 Northwest Blvd, Davenport, IA. All proceeds raised will go to the Alzheimer's Association. Volunteers are need to wash cars and all materials will be provided. Sarah Stevens is the Executive Director at Lead(h)er, a grassroots nonprofit that connects women with experienced leaders to fuel their career and community engagement. Sarah came to Lead(h)er after a decade long career in corporate healthcare where she held multipleleadership positions including Director of Genesis Health Group and Director of Outpatient Services for the health system. In February of 2016, Sarah chose to leave her position with Genesis in order to pursue work that better aligned with her sense of passion and purpose, She determined that the position with Lead(h)er would provide the perfect opportunity to utilize herbackground in operational leadership to create a strong, positive impact on the community, and it turns out that she and Lead(h)er were a perfect match.

Dr. Richard Whitaker began his career in the Quad Cities 24 years ago as a doctoral intern at the historic Marriage and Family Counseling Service in Rock Island, Illinois prior to receiving his Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Brigham Young University in 1995. Since that pivotal year, Dr. Whitaker has pursued a career in community mental health, providing therapy services, supervision, and executive administration at community mental health centers in Grand Island, Nebraska (9 years) and Jasper, Indiana (12 years as CFO). Since January, 2017, Rich has served as the CEO of Vera French Community Mental Health Center in Davenport, Iowa. Dr. Whitaker also serves as a Governor-appointed commissioner for the Iowa MHDS Commission, as a board member for the Iowa Association of Community Providers, and as a member of the Eastern Iowa MHDS Regional Advisory Committee. Rich and Miriam, his wife of 28 years, are the parents of 3 daughters and 1 son and the proud grandparents of 2 highly intelligent and multi-talented granddaughters. In his spare time, Rich enjoys family time at home, exercising, ultimate Frisbee, vocal performance, and service in the church and community. |

As Assistant Attorney General, he has prosecuted most of Iowa's public corruption and major financial crime over the last decade, including the Iowa Film Office Tax Credit scandal, and uncovering and prosecuting the largest lottery-rigging scandal in American history. He attended Brown University in Rhode Island and the University of Iowa Law School. He is now a candidate for Iowa's State Auditor. He and his wife Christine have two young sons. |

Barbara Melbourne, Vice Chancellor for Advancement at Palmer College of Chiropractic will give a presentation on, "Palmer College - Its Role in the Community - Past, Present and Future." Biography – Barbara Melbourne, J.D., Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement, was named Palmer’s vice chancellor for institutional advancement in November 2016. She’s responsible for providing leadership in the strategic planning and execution of College programs and initiatives related to alumni relations and fundraising. She previously served as vice president for development at the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend. Along with her experience at the foundation, Melbourne brings with her more than three decades of experience, including more than 21 years of planned- and major-gift experience in higher education and social services, including previous work at Augustana College, UCLA and Penn State University. She holds a juris doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Creighton University, Omaha, Neb. |

Davenport Community Food Pantry

Sarah McGlynn is a Nationally Board Certified Special Education teacher, teaching students in kindergarten and first grade special education at Monroe Elementary school in Davenport. Her thirteen year career has spanned general and special education positions, grades kindergarten to seventh grade, with an emphasis on children with severe emotional and behavioral disabilities. She is passionate about bringing Trauma-Informed Care to her students, including bringing her certified Therapy Dog, Ziggy, to school for the students. She is active in her local education association, elected as an Executive Board member for eleven years, and worked on several initiatives to further the association's connection with the community. She began the planning and preparation phase of the Davenport Community Food Pantry (DCFP) two years ago, and worked to generate the partnerships between the Davenport Education Association, the Madison Market, and River Bend Food Bank. She has been the Coordinator of the DCFP for the past year, running the daily functioning of the pantry, in addition to her teaching career. The pantry serves an average of 1,120 families a month, feeding 4-5,000 people. The Iowa State Education Association has supported both efforts with grant funding, including awarding the Community Action grant the past three years. |

Gwen Tombergs joins the Quad City Storm Hockey Team as the first female President of hockey in the Quad Cities and the Southern Professional Hockey League. A native of Eldridge, Iowa, Gren brings a plethora of experience in marketing, sales, media relations and event operations. She has worked for the CBA's Quad City Thunder, the ECHL's Richmond Renegades and the MLB's New York Mets. Gwen is an avid volunteer and has been involved with numerous community nomnprofit boards and committees. Her latest accomplishment was being the Project Manager for the first Quad Cities Big Table. She and her husband Dave reside in Bettendorf.
